How does the odometer work on a jeep?
All the instruments in the cluster work (tachometer, oil pressure, coolant temperature, &c) except the speedometer and the odometer. The technician at Joe’s Garage determined that the cable is getting 5v at each end–it’s grounded and getting power.

Why is my speed sensor not working on my Jeep Cherokee?
If in doubt you can view the speed sensor input in the PCM with a scan tool. The cruise control won’t work if the speed sensor fails. If your cruise control is working the speed sensor is working. Some of the later Cherokees had a corrosion problem with the instrument cluster connector.

When I stated back up, the odometer flashes,AC controls inoperable, radio controls inoperable, start-stop function inoperable. Nothing mentioned in manual about this condition. I have to drive home 730 miles hopefully it doesn’t cause the vehicle to completely shut down. Will be interesting to see what service tells me.
