Why does the back of my car squeak when I drive?
The squealing noise is caused by the friction of worn-out bearings which actually act as a buffer between the axle and the wheel. If you simply ignore the squealing noise your car makes, the squealing noise will turn into a grinding noise which will be more annoying to hear when you drive.
Where does the noise come from in a Jeep Cherokee?
I hear the noise emanating from the rear of my jeep when driving with the windows up. The noise is similar to the sound a commercial jet makes when flying overhead. The noise starts around 10 MPH and gets a bit louder with speed. The sound is most pronounced at speeds below 25 MPH while costing.
Why does my Lexus strut make a clunking noise?
As I rule I usually replace the bearings and mounts when doing struts. Toyota/Lexus has had issues with both the bearings and towers making noise. Take a look at the spring and its orientation to the insulators, any sleeves on the spring wire and spring seats top and bottom.
What causes a knocking sound when a strut is compressed?
The strut is filled with an inner shock, bushings, and supporting components that eventually wear out over time. When compressed, the knocking sound that is often heard is caused by the strut “bottoming out” or metal-to-metal contact.
What are the symptoms of a bad strut assembly?
Similar in cause to the above symptom, a rough or bumpy ride can also be an indicator of worn out or broken struts. It can also be a symptom of other parts of the strut assembly such as bushings, shocks or mounting hardware associated with the struts.
Why does my Jeep make a clicking sound?
My Jeep rides smooth, there is no play or vibration in the wheel, no clicking or any other noises when the steering wheel is turned. If it was not for the sound I described, you would not suspect anything. I just want to be cautious because I just bought this WK! I took a look and everything looked great!

How do you fix a jeep sway bar?
Pull the ends of the sway bar down to gain access to the upper nut/bolt on the links. Then re-install everything in reverse order, only finger tight at first. I used a jack to raise one side of the jeep about an inch to get one of the lower link bolts to line up with the LCA.
