Where is the shift bezel on a 2005 Jeep?
2005-2010 is on shift bezel, 2011-up is under cupholder mat (i was thinking you had a WK2). Looks like you’ve tried everything you can, assuming you moved shifter around while trying to start. No idea what could be wrong.

Why does my Jeep not start in Park?
So went down to get a burrito, everything fine. Came back out to start it, nothing. The jeeps shifter is in park but will roll forward and back so it must not be in park. Everything works as far as electrical and I’m not throwing codes.

Click to expand… For a new Jeep this should be covered 3yr/36k. Could be due to pressure switches or solenoids. Dealer has the specific scan tools to read trans codes. FCA AT…..this is why I bought the JK with the 6 spd MT which is not perfect and has its own quirks.
What to do when your Jeep won’t move out of Park?
Seconds later my gal jumps in the driver seat and the Jeep won’t move out of park. I discover that if I take off the shift cover (cover that reads P R N D 2 1), I can still push the pin downward and I am able to shift into gear (with foot on the break and pushing in the shift button on the shift handle T-grip).
