How many CJ pins are in a headlight switch?
I am using a painless harness that is non-terminated. I have a couple CJ headlight switches, hope at least one is good. I found a wiring diagram for the switch (I should point out the diagram in the painless instructions shows 9 pins, the CJ switch has 7, and 1 of those is not used…)
Where are the connectors on a headlight switch?
There are 2 connectors in the stack that you need to find. Both should have the black/yellow wire that is the one shorting out. One is C-203, green & I think 2nd from the top that wire should be at pin 6. The other is C-107, yellow & I think 5th from the top that wire should be at pin 1.
When do you need to replace the headlight switch?

What happens if the headlight switch does not work?
If the headlight switch completely fails it may prevent all of the vehicle’s lights from functioning. You may find that when you go to turn on the headlights, none of the modes will turn on any of the lights. A vehicle without any functioning lights is not safe to drive, especially in low light and nighttime situations.

An exposed wire gets damaged & a bare spot (copper strands are exposed) & that spot gets contact with a ground like the body or frame, even the exhaust & pops the fuse. The most exposed area is in the back where, besides a trailer harness you have the exhaust pipe & the wires go across under there from the left taillight to the right.
What is missing in the tail light wiring schematic?
Missing in the diagram is the brown wire that feeds the left front marker lamp. It connects the same as the right side marker lamp brown wire (to the left front marker light).
