What is the code on my Jeep Liberty?
Code indicated a misfire in the #2 cylinder. Am taking it to a mechanic today to have it checked. When engine is first turned on sounds fantastic.
What’s the problem with my Jeep Liberty engine?
Check engine light came on (misfire on cylinder 4) – spark plugs replaced. Light came on again (misfire on cylinder 4) – switched coil from 4 to 2. Light came on again (misfire on cylinder 4) – found out today that every valve on the right side of the engine is burnt.

Can a Jeep Liberty be swapped for a Chrysler 3.7?
Any Chrysler 3.7 from just about anything 2005-2012 (2004? Not sure when they changed reluctors) We put a 2012 liberty motor in our 2006 commander, swapped the oil pan ( liberty should be the same) , intake, throttle body the temp sensor and cam sensor. The rest was bolt up.
Can you change the engine on a Jeep Liberty?
Two of the tricks is the power steering and ac compressor can be left attached and just pushed aside. Probably the same trick for a lot of jeeps. Just about any vehicle needing a engine is going to be costly unless it’s ubiquitous like a 4.0 . I found the 3.7 a hard engine to find a good cheap one.

When i swapped the 2012 in to the 06, it was very straight forward and a low mileage engine to, skipped a ton of steps like the rear main seal and crank seal because they were still perfect at 30k mikes and three years old at the time I bought it.

What is code 0306 on Jeep Liberty?
0306 code constantly no matter what you do. Always triggered while idling. Compression test good, leak down test good, new plugs, coils, injectors, cleaned throttle, O2 sensors all four, check valves no vacuum leaks. Cur runs normally but nothing fixes codes.
What’s the problem with 4 cylinder Jeep Liberty?
I actually found the problem. In both the 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder Jeeps, the valve cover gaskets have a short life and as they encircle the spark plugs, oils leaks down on them and shorts them out. Gasket changed, problem solved.
