Is the Jeep Grand Cherokee 2015 key fob not detected?
I have seen now several instances in the Jeep 2014-2015 models and Dodge Charger 2014-2015 of this “key Fob Not Detected” issue being reported by others. My main worry is was in a remote back country rd just prior to this event.

I got out of my car and when i came back the vehicle would not start and displayed a message of “key FOB Not Detected”. After reaching a land line called a few dealerships who all said to pry the start stop button off.

Sure enough nothing would work, couldnt unlock the doors from inside, couldnt unlock with remote or even lock with remote. Took the key fob apart to get to the spare key and popped the push button start out and nothing key wouldnt turn.

Why are my key fobs not recognizing my Car?
Having an issue with just ONE of our two key fobs. (FYI, the “problem” fob has a brand new battery). On occasion (intermittently), the problem fob will open the door, adjust the seat, etc., to all the pre-programmed settings and then not start the car with the push button, and get the notification “Key Not Recognized”.

I called Chrylser to get it towed to the dealership. The battery was drained at this time. We jumped it and the key fob started working but the display was jumping between a couple messages such as service engine and service airbag. Didn’t get to test anything else as it was towed off. May only pertain to MY 2014 and must have autostart; with the driver door open (or driver door plus other doors open) press autostart button twice then put keys on the front seat and close all doors, DONE! Keys now locked in the car 2. Pertains to all vehicles, I think, with key fob or remote.
Can a jeep FOB be used as a back up?
The second issue is for a company who markets a line of vehicles as go-anywhere someone will get stuck as there is now no longer a mechanical way to get the vehicle started as a back up. I can see a new firmware update coming. I always carry spare batteries for the FOB but the jeep tells you when FOB batteries are low.
