Why is the liftgate on my 2015 Jeep Cherokee not working?
The contact owns a 2015 Jeep Cherokee. While driving in the rain at an unknown speed, the power liftgate failed. The contact stated that the liftgate would not close.

Went to close it and nothing…tried it from the overhead button, rear button and key fob. Nothing. So I “closed” it manually and it will not latch/secure the tailgate. Tried to put it in reverse, then drive, then park and open/close…and it just stays open! :slapfight: Thoughts?

SOOO if anyone has this problem arise, manually close the liftgate to about 6″ from the latch then close with medium force. That will at least close it so the interior lights do not stay on and the dash display telling you it is open.

Is there a way to close the lift gate?
That will at least close it so the interior lights do not stay on and the dash display telling you it is open. Yeah, the gate can also be operated manually and when closing manually it won’t electrically suck itself shut the rest of the way.
