The message is advisory, not a warning of something wrong. The batteries charge state is accessed and if there is not enough charge the ESS is turned off to allow the battery’s to charge up. Cause while you use the ESS it drains the battery’s while the engine is off.

Feb 9, 2018 1,342 NY There is a second battery that lets say handles stop/start. That secondary battery is on the passenger side front of JLU, behind the fender liner. (see pic below). Perhaps that battery is bad, a wire loose at battery, etc..

They replaced the auxiliary battery and everything was fine for a month or so. Started having issues again and this time they replaced both batteries. Start/Stop system worked for another month or so then became unavailable for a week at a time saying system charging.
