Why is the ABS light on on my CRDi?
Hello, I’m new to this forum but i have a problem with an ABS light on a 2009 Rio 1.5 CRDI – 37k miles. Light is permanently on and I have done a number of checks – I’ve cleaned up the front sensors, unclipped /reclipped connectors and whilst the reluctor rings look rusty there are no visible breaks in either of them.
What should I do about the constant ABS light?
I have checked and metered all the wheel sensors and all give the same reading, checked the reluctance rings for damage, brake fluid level is ok and is like new have inspected the brake system for leaks or damage I have checked all fuses concerned with the abs system and checked the connections to the abs pump and the control unit.
Why does the ABS light come on after 38k miles?
It’s rather annoying that this fault has happened after 38k miles as this hub unit isn’t exposed to the elements – the mechanic at the garage was very helpful and also advised that if the ABS light comes on some of the latest VW & Ford cars they won’t start until the ABS fault is rectified – a step too far in my view.
Why are rear lights not working but brake lights are?
If the rear light lights up correctly but does not become bright when the brake is applied then the switch of the brake is faulty. This circuit is connected with the brake pedal – if the switch is out of place or connected incorrectly then the pedal may not be able to complete the circuit correctly.

Why are the brake lights not working but the tail lights are?
Blown out light bulbs are the most common reason for why the brake lights not working but the tail lights are. Remove the screws from the bulb lens (which you can access through the trunk or see your vehicle repair manual to get the exact location). Push the bulbs and turn them counterclockwise to remove from the socket.
Why does my brake light only work on one side?
Since the problem is only on one side, you can rule out the fuse and other parts of the circuit that are shared by both bulbs. I would look closely at the connector for the nonfunctional bulb, as it may be damaged or corroded. If the bulb looks OK, you’ll want to test for power and ground at the bulb.
