Why does my truck whistle when I hit the gas?
The sound you are hearing is air leaking across a damaged gasket or a warped sealing surface. With the throttle closed, or in deceleration mode, the manifold pressure is very low and if there is a leak anywhere in the induction system that should normally be sealed, you will hear the (very common) whistle.
Does turbo make whistle sound?
As the name suggests, a turbo whistle sounds like a high pitched whistle or whining sound, heard when the turbocharger kicks in as you accelerate and the revs go up. In fact, some people purchase aftermarket ‘turbo whistler’ devices that fit inside the exhaust of a vehicle to mimic the sound of the turbo whistle.
When does the gas pedal go down does the car make a noise?
The noise does not occur when the car is in reverse, only when the gas pedal is pushed down (loudest) in drive or when in park. It sounds like a Harley… or a bad muffler, but the sound is clearly coming from the front of the car.
Why does my car whistle when I give it gas?
Maybe something is just lose or something is not completely sealed and some air is getting out. That would make a whistling noise for sure, and when you give it more gas the air is being forced into the throttle body at a more rapid rate so it might not escape as much hence the sound going away.
Why does my car sound like a Harley Davidson?
The noise does not occur when the car is in reverse, only when the gas pedal is pushed down (loudest) in drive or when in park. It sounds like a Harley… or a bad muffler, but the sound is clearly coming from the front of the car. I opened up the hood and couldn’t see anything-i think it is underneath somewhere. filippidi April 8, 2017, 2:40pm #9
Why does my vacume make a whistling noise?
That would make a whistling noise for sure, and when you give it more gas the air is being forced into the throttle body at a more rapid rate so it might not escape as much hence the sound going away. I’ll give that a go this weekend. Thanks! I would second what hotrod has mentioned. Sounds as though it may be a vacume leak causing you problems.
