Why does my RPM not go up?

Naturally I pulled over immediately and shut off the engine, however when I restarted the car I gave it a little rev and I noticed it wouldn’t rev past 2000 rpm and when I tried driving it was the same in every gear, The egr valve is working and the car has a supply of fuel, the filter is fine and the exhaust has got a good pressure.

The in banjo is free flowing with no restriction, the out banjo has a tiny 1mm hole in it to act as a restriction – fit a normal banjo and it’ll idle but not run. Re: Diesel runs but won’t rev up. Why does my diesel engine stop at 2000 rpm?
No codes, no lights, just limp it in. Shut the engine off and it would run fine for 3, 4, sometimes 5 miles but would drop rpm to 2000 rpm and into limp mode again. My fuel filter only had 7000 miles on it but had the stealer put a guage on the filter housing for vacuum restriction and sure enough, pulling a 6.
