Why does my Mazda 3 not shift gears?
Once the light blinks I feel like the car is in a mode where it doesn’t shift any gear and when the indicator comes back it comes back to the same gear…so let’s say if car is at 3 and I am not speeding, it will come back to 3 and no problem ..if I am speeding like on a highway, it does jerk because it comes back on 3 and then shifts to 5 …

Just checking to see is I should just get a transmission filter changed or if something else may be happening. Also, when I put it in reverse (auto tranny btw) it jerks real hard when it links up, as well as when its in first going into second. Also+2, when the light is on the tip-tronic mode isnt functional. Any info would be awesome.

The shift indicator/gear light is blinking sporadically.. Mazda asked me to change the transmission control module, I did change it but the problem is still there…got my transmission fluid changed by Mazda, problem is still there… Mazda and another mechanic checked and there are no codes and no AT or check engine light.

What to do if your Mazda 3 won’t shift?
Yellow AT light is on and car will not shift up from 3rd, runs at high rpms. Pull over and shut off car. Start back up and problem goes away… until I’m driving home. Same symptoms. This happens for days. First fix I try is replacing tranny fluid and filter. No change as problem happens again next day.
