Why does my 2005 Pontiac G6 not start?

2005 Pontiac G6…Started vehicle after being locked for the day, would not allow to shift out of park, with brake depressed, or at all, unable to even depress the button on the shifter. Security padlock no longer blinks on the panel, lit solid yellow, maybe security engaged. Unhooked battery, reconnected, tried to start, now it won’t even start.
