Why are my index 12 injectors not working?
The seal would disappear off the tip and cause stutter and misfires. Finally I installed all brand new Index 12 injectors, and when I got to 6 I noticed that it simply fell all the way into the channel without any pressure needed to seat it down.
How can I get my injector out of my car?
I put and engine support bar across the engine and wrap some rope down under the injector and then use the large threaded engine hook on the support beam to pull it out by twisting the handle pulling it up. Last summer my car started idling real rough and throwing misfires and CELs on hard acceleration.
Where do the injectors rest on the bore?
Normally the injectors rest on the edge of the bore and the bolt and brackets push them down while the decoupler is squeezed to fill the space at the top and seal it in. So in my case there was slight leakage as the bore was somehow larger than the other cylinders.
How to solve the injector / misfire problem solved?
The head itself is $3,000, plus labor. So instead I snipped the retaining clips off a second decoupler and slid it onto the injector, on top of the existing one. It then fit in the bore like the other ones and torqued down normally. The problem seems to be solved. Car is running mint. Last edited by Ocean; 02-01-2016 at 01:48 PM..
What are the injectors for the LY5 engine?
The LY5 injectors were rated at 30 lbs. and won’t support much more than 390 hp. Luckily, you have many options. If you use the shorter L94/L9H 54-lb. injector, a spacer will be required to fit the fuel rail. Keep in mind, the best injectors are fully characterized which helps your tuner maximize idle quality etc.
Why do I have low compression in all cylinders?
If you have low compression in all cylinders, this is often the culprit. Also, your compression leak may not be in the pistons or head gasket but in the valves. Exhaust valves and air intake valves at the top of the cylinder can also get overheated, and leak gas or the valve seals can become too worn to seal the gas in properly.
How is the speed of the injector controlled?
The injector in a basic picture is an electronically controlled valve that is supplied with pressurized fuel from the fuel pump at a certain pressure level injector can be electromagnetically opened and closed at very high speed—this speed controlled by the electronic control unit using.
Can a LY5 engine be swapped into a heavier car?
If the engine is being swapped into a lightweight car with deep gears, converter, etc., the LY5 responds well to bigger cams. Heavy drivetrain. Good with auto and stock converter. Converter recommended. Still can drive daily. Fly-cutting the pistons may be required. Heads and intake good for another 40+ hp.
