Where is the turbo on a T5?
On the AXD/AXE engines, the turbo is bolted to the block first and then the four bolts from the top of the manifold are tightened. If it’s a BNZ/BPC, the turbo is bolted to the block the the three bolts from the top side of the manifold tightned aroung a ‘sealing collar’.
How long does a VW T5 last?

It could be doing lots of things however unless the turbo has seized or causing huge oil usage it is not the turbo itself at fault. Boost control solenoid or one of the vac pipes running to it has rubbed through ? see this a fair bit VWs. MAF sensor? N75 valve?

It is a fairly time-consuming job to replace the clutch as it is not an easy part to get to in the engine bay. The part it self is only in the region of £280 up to £400 depending on model (Check price of specific part on Amazon below) Other vw transporter t5 problems unfortunately involve the EGR.
