Where does fuel injection go in a Harley Davidson?
Sequential Port Fuel Injection – Injector nozzles are positioned in the manifold near the intake valve and are precisely timed to deliver fuel to each cylinder. Still with me? OK, let’s dig into the components that make up the system, what they do, where they are, and what they are commonly called.
Is there an error with my fuel injector?

When did closed loop fuel injection come out?
Closed loop operation was introduced with the 2006 Dyna model and all other models in 2007. Sequential Port Fuel Injection – Injector nozzles are positioned in the manifold near the intake valve and are precisely timed to deliver fuel to each cylinder.
What are the different maps for fuel injection?
There are several different Look-up tables, which allow the ECM to make decisions on fuel delivery and spark timing. For most of us, these are referred to as “Maps.” The Maps that are more or less in continuous use by the ECM are the VE (Volumetric Efficiency) AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) and the Spark Advance table.

What kind of fuel injector do I need for my Duramax LBZ?
Remanufactured to strict specifications, the BD-Power 1724521 Premium Stock Performance Plus Fuel Injector is an OE replacement injector for your 2006-2007 GM 6.6L Duramax LBZ. Each Premium Stock Performance Plus Fuel Injector is remanufactured using brand new Bosch OE Nozzle, Solenoid and Control Valve.
What are the sensors in a fuel injection system?
The electronics and Sensors diagram is typical wiring diagram for an EFI system. Some EFI systems may have more or fewer sensors than this drawing. This represents a typical fuel injection system. The engine and air temperature sensors are simple devices that change in resistance as the temperature changes.
What is BD-power 1076661 43% injector set?
The BD-Power 1076661 43% Injector Nozzle Set for your 2006-2007 GM 6.6L Duramax is designed to increase power and performance in your truck. Made from genuine OE nozzles, the 43% upgrade is geared towards street and strip applications for trucks with fuel system, tuning and air flow upgrades.
Is the fuel injection system still open loop?
It should be noted that changes to incorporate closed-loop operation under certain operating conditions is a recent addition but the system operates virtually the same. In theory Harley’s fuel injection system is still an open-loop system by design.
How does an electronic fuel injection system work?
In its simplest terms, an electronic fuel injection (EFI) system is a computer controlled fuel delivery system. This electronic control unit (ECU) reads various sensors located on the vehicle and makes the determination of how much fuel to allow the engine to have based on this information.
How is the fuel pump relay and idle solenoid activated?
The idle solenoid is activated by a 12-volt signal and allows additional air into the intake manifold to increase the idle RPMs. The main relay is activated by the ignition switch and provides power to all components in the EFI system. The fuel pump relay is activated by the EFI ECU when the engine is running.
Where does fuel injection on a Harley Davidson come from?
The mighty Harley is slowly loosing its carburetor. For those of you who haven’t noticed or are stuck back in the 80’s, a large number of the bikes coming from Milwaukee have fuel injection installed. International environmental concerns have slowly forced the change from carburetor to electronic fuel injection.

How does the fuel pump work on a Harley Davidson?
The fuel pump provides a high pressure feed to the fuel rail that contains the fuel injectors. On the fuel rail there is a pressure regulator that limits the fuel pressure to 39-45 PSI and maintains a constant pressure. The pressure regulator has a vacuum line that connects it to the intake manifold.
When to add oil to INJ pump yes or no?
Yes, my understanding is that if you have the other kind of injection pump, the oil will drain out when you do an oil change. As always, make sure your engine oil is warm so that it will flow out better. Add 5 0z of engine oil through the top of the pump after you have completed the oil change and before you fire up the engine.
How often should you change oil and transmission fluid?
Unless you have a specific performance problem, your car or truck almost certainly does not need any of these services before 60,000 miles, if ever. If you want to aggressively maintain your vehicle, you should change the oil every 3,000 miles and the transmission fluid perhaps every 35,000 miles.
How often should you change your oil with direct injection?
Some consumers and technicians think if they change their oil every 3,000 to 5,000 miles with conventional oil on a direct injection engine that they are preventing problems and saving on the expense of having to purchase synthetic oil. The reality is that they could be making the problem worse.
When did Harley Davidson start using fuel injection?
Contact us for more details on this upgrade . Even Harley-Davidson’s Sportster motorcycles have EFI as of 2007. FLH’s, Softails, Dyna’s and Buell’s all offer fuel injection as original equipment since 2007 or an option on older bikes since 1996.
When to use open loop fuel injection on Harley Davidson?
Since Harley only uses narrow band sensors (NBO2) capable of only a very narrow range of Air/fuel ratio (AFR), the ECM can only control the mixture under cruising or very low load conditions. Under all other conditions the ECM switches to Open Loop as described in this article.

What is the code for a fuel injector failure?
If you are using a generic (not vehicle manufacturer specific) code reader; then you can expect to see codes beginning with P02. For example, a fault with an injector in cylinder one would give a code of P0201.
Why do fuel injectors need to be changed so often?
If an engine isn’t running efficiently, this can load extra pressure on injectors. It’s also important, to regularly change the fuel filter, to ensure a proper fuel flow. Driving Habits. Driving a car hard, combined with short start stop journeys, will increase the wear and tear on injectors.
What was the problem with my Harley Davidson?
After about 15 mins she showed up and said her bike would not stay running. At each stop, it would stall but would always start after the fact. It died in the driveway. We tried to troubleshoot the problem but have been unsuccessful so far. Checked the fuel pump, getting gas, changed the plugs and checked the wires for leaks, no leaks.
Can a Harley Davidson run just a little richer?
Click to expand… +1 on running a little richer, Harleys seem to run to lean from the factory. Unless your dumping to much fuel you should be fine. More information please.
Why does my Harley Davidson run weird after a charge?
The reason its intermittent is the bike will start running weird in other words it would take a charge but if for some reason that charge did not hold for long the bike will start running weird again. So I went and change the battery and I’ve never had the problem since.

What causes a fuel pump to misfire on a Harley?
Before you ground it i feeling it has something to do with ign or headlamp wires or ground any suggestions The yellow wire w/green tracer should only be +12 volts to your fuel pump. Has nothing to do with spark or ignition. Powering your fuel pump directly from your battery will not alter fuel delivery or mixture.
