Where are the resistors on a Harley Davidson spark plug?
We have already examined the fact that motorcycle manufacturers (Harley excepted, as with other things) put the resistors on the endsof the spark plug wires. That is, inside the plug caps. They have also always used plain stranded metal wire (stainless steel in Asian motorcycles). That is, good old-fashioned electrically conductive stuff.
What happens when Non resistor spark plugs are installed?
They will turn on their panel indicator lights, wiggle their gauges around, and do other strange things if connectivity to the resistors is faulty, or if non-resistor spark plugs are installed in them. Older Vehicle Maintenance Issues
Why are my BERU spark plugs going bad?
Many Chain Gang Members have discovered that their Poor Starting or Low Power problem lies in the OEM Beru Plug Caps resistors going bad and have gained an instant (the most gratifying kind) fix by simply replacing the Spark Plug caps.
Why are my plug caps and coils not working?
Adrian Jowett’s Excellent F650 site was the first site to mention that the Plug Caps/Coil Wires/Coils can fail. So what does he mean by fail.? Well they generally don’t suddenly stop working, they just build up resistance to the point where you spark gets weak and things don’t work like they used to.

Can a spark plug be replaced with a coilpack?
So basically, it would seem, that the best thing to do is to simply visually inspect the plugs from time to time and make sure the electrode wear is not excessive. If it is, you can either bend the electrode down a little to return to a more reasonable distance (if you are really cheap), or just replace the plug.

What causes a spark in a distributor cap?
In a distributor cap system, voltage is held pretty much at a constant, and the spark fires when the rotor gets close enough to the pin that the breakdown voltage falls below the coil voltage. Carbon deposits act like resistors effectively delaying the spark.
Why is the inboard disc on a Honda VT500?
Honda’s notorious inboard disc was designed to solve the problems of braking in wet weather but seem to have caused more problems than they solved. Heres how to take them apart.
Which is the best turn signal relay for a VT500?
Thanks are due to Michael from our facebook group for the following tips which he has applied to his ‘Euro’ model They should apply to most VT500Es, NV400s and probably ‘C’s and ‘FT’s, but check first. Turn signal relays. If the VT500 turn signal relay stops working, the best choice is to go for a Mitsuba FR-3303.
What’s the problem with the Honda VT500 tensioner?
The culprit is the camchain tensioner, or rather the two of them. This problem affects mainly pre-’85 models, since Honda uprated the design for ’85. Now how do you know if it’s a new or old type tensioner? Well, here are some pics that show the details. Detail pic…
