What to do about Grease in the hub cavity?
For many of us packing the bearing full, filling the outboard cap, filling the void space between the cup/cone/washer, and filling the space between the seal and inner bearing cone will be sufficient. Enough additional oil will be released from this excess grease for most normal driving situations.
How do you remove grease from front hub?
You now need to unscrew the hub nut – there are two holes in the nut that engage in the special tool. Insert a suitable drift into one and unscrew the nut. The hub/disc assembly now comes off the stub axle. Remove old oil seal from rear of hub. Remove all grease, inspect etc. Repack.
How much grease is in the hub unit?
Most late-model cars now use integrated hub units where the bearings are integral to the hub. These permanently sealed units are 1/3 – 1/2 full of grease.
Where do you put a grease filled wheel bearing?
Fit the grease-filled bearing into its race. Put the inboard inner race into its outer race; or tap it on the stub axle with a tubular drift if this is more convenient. Can a grease seal be replaced on a trailer hub?
Often, removing the grease seal from the hub will damage it enough to require its replacement. If the seal does not seat well in the hub, it will not work properly. The easiest way to find a replacement is to find the numbers stamped in the rubber part of the seal. If you do not see any numbers, measure the inner and outer diameters of the seal.

What kind of lubricant do you use on wheel hubs?
If you work on these hubs you need to lube that inner needle bearing with an NLGI grade two wheel bearing grease. When you remove the hub pay special attention to the two seals on the axle shaft and one on the spindle.
