What is a NEXUS lane?
Using the NEXUS lane means faster crossings at land air and sea ports along the USA Canada border. You don’t need a passport if you use your NEXUS card, but you must ensure that you carry your NEXUS card with you every time you stop at a border point.
Who can use the NEXUS lane?
A vehicle can only use the NEXUS lane if all of its passengers (including children) hold a valid NEXUS card and nothing requiring a special customs declaration or payment of duty is being brought into Canada (see below). Members may also use Ready Lanes when entering the US from Canada or Mexico.

What is the NEXUS lane at border patrol?
NEXUS is designed to speed up border crossings for low-risk, pre-approved travellers into Canada and the United States (U.S.). It is jointly run by the Canada Border Services Agency and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
Can I travel to us with NEXUS only?
Only the Global Entry kiosks located in U.S. preclearance areas at Canadian airports will accept a NEXUS card. When entering the U.S. from other airports, you must use your passport to receive NEXUS privileges.

Are NEXUS lanes open at border?
The NEXUS lane is temporarily closed. NEXUS members whose travel is essential should use the regular primary inspection lanes to seek entry to Canada. Until further notice, NEXUS is accepted in all lanes.
Do you still need a passport if you have a NEXUS card?
NEXUS members who are Mexican nationals or permanent residents of Canada or the U.S. must travel with a passport. Note that NEXUS members who choose to use their NEXUS card in a non-NEXUS lane will be processed as a regular traveller and will not receive the benefit of expedited entry.
Can I use NEXUS during Covid?
NEXUS/FAST At this time, NEXUS and FAST enrolment centres in Canada remain closed. NEXUS and FAST interviews will resume at enrolment centres in the US on November 29, 2021. Temporary lane closures at NEXUS land ports of entry have been implemented until further notice.
Are NEXUS cards still valid?
Your membership in NEXUS is valid for 5 years. Please note that a streamlined renewal process is now in place. It is no longer necessary for some renewing members to attend an interview.
