Where is the transfer solenoid on a Subaru?
If you want to know for sure if it’s the transfer solenoid, put a fuse in the AWD location in the fuse box under the hood (driver’s side). This puts the car into FWD only mode. If the shuddering goes away, you may have found your problem.
