There doesn’t seem to be any slack in it, though when looking down the carb and pushing the throttle it seems as though maybe there ought to be a little more fuel coming out than there is, or it ought to come out quicker at less throttle opening or something. Basically I seem to recall it getting a bigger shot sooner at some point in the past.

Holley carb, flat spot off-idle… I have a 600 CFM Holley vac secondary sitting on a mild 306. My original problem was that at 70+ MPH or lightly accelerating on the highway it would surge.

In the old days, there used to be a cable that was connected from the throttle to the accelerator. But now in the technological age, the car’s computer controls when the throttle opens and closes by the feedback it gets about the acceleration of the vehicle.
