If you still find the DR650 too high, there is an alternative bolt hole for the rear suspension to lower the bike further, then just slip the front forks a bit in your triple clamps to suit. It’s not a good pillion bike in our opinion.

The DR650SE has 2 suspension height settings. Yours might be in the low setting, but with an OEM tall sidestand. If you want to raise a lowered DR suspension to full height, you may want a Clymer or Suzuki service manual, but many people familiar with the DR could talk you through it.

Is there a way to lower a Suzuki DR650?
As far as the DR650, I’ve had 2, there is no Suzuki lowering kit. There is 2 different bolt holes that will lower the rear by approx 1″ Then you can get lowering links that will lower it another 1.75″. Then you can raise the front forks approx 2″ in the clamps.
Where did I take The DR650 adventure rider?
Took them all Goler Wash, Mengel Pass, Lippincott Pass, up and down many times, Pleasant Canyon, South Park and many others in Death Valley with no problems with height except hitting rocks because of my fat ass on the poor scoots.
