The petcocks purpose is to prevent fuel flow from the fuel tank to the motorcycles carburetors. They have this in part because motorcycles spend a large chunk of their lives parked on a sidestand. And the petcocks prevent the fuel from overloading the float seals on the “downhill” side of the bike.

Hello, all: Got a strange one for you here; sometimes, when I’m starting the T-100, I hit the button and it begins to turn over, then stops just like I’d released the button. I’ve tried playing with the clutch lever and the sidestand to no avail.
