The bypass belt will go straight from the crank pulley (#1) to the power steering pump (#3). It will just clear the top of the A/C compressor pulley (#2). As for replacing the compressor, If it’s actually the compressor pump that is the problem, you will have to recharge the system because removing the compressor does open it.
