Is there an issue with my Subaru Forester air conditioner?
Has 47,900 miles and suddenly started blowing warm on July 3, 2019. I have read there is a known issue with the compressors in this model and have an appointment with my dealership July 18, 2019. The issue is independent of being stationary, moving, in gear, or parked.
Why does AC blow cold air on one side only?
If both sides are blowing air at roughly the same temperature when the AC is off, then the earlier results (i.e., equal heating left and right) and this suggest the problem is not the temperature blend door or the heater core.
Where does cold air come from in a Subaru Outback?
The air drawn in from outside is first blown, by the fan, through the AC evaporator, where, if the AC is on, the air is cooled and dehumidified. The air then flows to the heater core area. If the temperature control is set to cold, the blend door should route the air around the heater core, so that the heater core is not involved.
Can a car vent blow cold one side and hot the other?
In a vehicle with dual temperature controls you may encounter a situation where the vent blows cold one side, hot on other side or vice versa.

What kind of refrigerant does a Subaru Forester use?
Never before encountered this but ok, it’s been r134 refrigerant in previous cars. This new stuff ought to be very very environmentally safe if it leaks so easily compared to earlier refrigants. It must be made from liquid gold or something as it is so expensive.
