Does cold air intake improve sound?
Quick answer – Yes. The sound of your car will be louder and more aggressive with a cold air intake. Instead of loudness though, a cold air intake changes the sound of your car engine. You will clearly hear the sound of air flowing into the intake – especially when you rev up the car and then release the throttle.
Do you need a tune for a cold air intake WRX?
Pretty much every air intake on the market for WRX’s or STI’s will require a tune to ensure they work properly. We highly recommend COBB’s SF air intake or AEM’s cold air intake for the 2008+ WRX and STI.
Why are cold air intakes loud?
Colder air means more airflow through the air intake inside the combustion chamber. Further, the air intake has a large surface area to assist a higher rate of colder air inside the engine. This enhances the sound of the engine thus enhancing the sound of the exhaust.
What does an intake do for a WRX?
The stock intake system on your Subaru is intended to reduce intake noise, and intake flow is compromised as a result. An aftermarket intake system can greatly increase the engine’s capacity to ingest air, resulting in improved horsepower!
Can I run Cobb intake without tune?
This COBB SF Intake does not require additional tuning once installed. It is designed to work perfectly with the stock MAF sensor. Simply install and go!
Is a cold air intake worth it?
To answer the question of whether a cold air intake system is ultimately worth it, the answer is yes. Even if you don’t notice the benefits, they are still present and are actively helping your car to run more efficiently.
Will a cold air intake ruin your engine?
Cold air intakes are generally a safe upgrade for a naturally aspirated engine, however, some aftermarket installations can lead to issues with surge idling and surgelocking. These can result in efficiency and performance problems, cause high idling and stalling, and eventually lead to expensive engine repairs.
