Can you engage gears with the engine off?
As soon as you switch the engine on (even if you leave your foot on the clutch whilst turning the car on) the gears become virtually impossible to select…. What is my problem?? Why is my lawn mower engine not turning?
Check to see that the deck belt is not binding somewhere. Also one of the spindle bearings could be freezing up causing the blades to be difficult for the engine to turn. To check, be sure you’ve got enough slack in the deck belt, then try to turn the spindle pulleys and see if they all turn freely.
