Why is my starter not working on my motorcycle?
Check for a poor connection in the heavy gauge wires between the battery and starter relay, and the starter relay and the starter motor. The problem could lie with the starter motor if the high current wires and connections check out.
How does an electric motorcycle starter system work?
All electric starting systems have two separate circuits: one for low current, and one for high current. Both circuits are connected to the battery. When the starter motor is activated it requires a large amount of current to turn the engine over.
When to replace the starter relay on a motorcycle?
Check for continuity between the high current terminals. When the jump is completed there should be continuity between the high current terminals. When the jump is open there should not be continuity between the high current terminals. Replace the starter relay if it fails this test.
What are the components of the starter relay?
The central components of this circuit are the battery, main/ignition switch, engine start switch, fuse, and coil winding inside of the starter relay. When the engine start switch is activated the low current circuit is completed and an electromagnetic field is created inside the starter relay.
What happens when you push the start button on a bike?
When you push the button it gives power to the starter to crank the motor. When you push start the bike, with it in gear you crank the motor manually, so check the connection (s) at or around the start button. As for the clutch hmmm does it engage, as in when you pull in the lever does it work as intended?
Why is my push starter not working on my motorcycle?
Also, if the push starter was getting an electrical current and still not working, it would have drained your battery after about 10 tries with no engine turn over. So you most likely just need to replace the push starter.
What does it mean when your motorcycle won’t start?

If okay, check that the switch is getting power from the ignition switch when the ignition switch is turned on. If not, your ignition switch may be faulty at the lead that supplies power to the starter switch and is probably the culprit because we know the ignition circuit works – it’s the starter circuit in question.
