Why does the tach and speedometer stop working?
In any case. Earlier this week my wife the primary driver of the vehicle noted that the speedometer, tach, and gas guage had stopped working. The speedometer and tach are ‘analog’ looking gauges bu the gas gauge is a digital gauge. Upon checking further the odometer is not functioning and the trip meters are not incrementing.

This morning forvthe first time my speedometer and rmp gauge was working. My speedometer would read 0 and sometimes jump around and twice for about a minute actually work. My rpm gaugevran unusally higher then usual (which i could also hear my engine working harder then usual.

The internal light (“L” terminal) for each gauge is typically fed from the NAV/ANC switch but in some cases that terminal is powered whenever the key is in the RUN position. A voltmeter is needed to verify that voltage is present. If some gauges work and others don’t, suspect a sender or sender wiring problem.

Just purchase 1997 Bayliner Trophy 115hp Outboard Yamaha…. The gas, rpm and speedometer dont work, I like at the wiring behind the gauges… seem like all the wires is connected except one is not connected for each gauges… Does anybody have any idea or know of a diagram, book, or video of some sort?? any reply is greatly appreciated….
Why does my gas gauge keep pegging full?
The gas gauge might interpret voltage feedback from a dead sender as FULL or EMPTY, consequently pegging the gauge no matter the actual fuel level. Circuit Problems can cause the gas gauge to stop functioning normally.
