Why does my ProStar MaxxForce 13 have low power?
A number of things can cause low power. The exhaust back pressure valve can be stuck closed so hardly no exhaust gas can exit the engine, or the turbo waste gate actuator can be stuck open so all the boost pressure is dumped out the exhaust. These are common and the actuator rods/linkage seize up.

The turbo piping has to be removed from the compressor side along with the connections to the engine crankcase breather. Once the 2 housing are removed the clean up can be done easily. All of the piping has to be cleaned up as well.

Another area was the boost and temperature sensors on the driver’s side below the intake throttle and EGR valves. Both were fairly clean so the EGR which is surrounded constantly by hot exhaust gases was the next best choice.

Verify that the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) is reading smoothly. If the code sets while in motion or during the creep test, replace the VSS. If the code does not set, a case file needs to be submitted to Navistar because the flow chart diagnostics does not continue after that step. Why is my MaxxForce crank but no start?
I also heard that using cheap fuel filters causes issues. They are all expensive and hard to find American made filters. Foreign made junk should cost end users less but it usually cost you more in other areas. Like a cheap air filter that a contractor installed. It somehow got rain water intrusion and sucked part of the filter into the engine.

The on board computer works with percentages when opening and closing the valves on the EGR so one would think that if the program that runs the engine noticed a wrong percentile it would flip a code. Regardless of that the problem got repaired and everybody is happy.
