When ever you pull the spark plugs get a small light to shine in the hole. You will see cross hatching on the cylinder wall. The rings never seat.

Is the bottom end of an Evo bullet proof?
As the fine gents said. I can only add that the EVO bottom end is mostly bullet proof, in particular late EVO’s. With proper warm-up that scoot can take some serious abuse, and the ’98 cases are good for future upgrades as well. Earlier cases – like mine – can crack if bored up for larger cylinders.

How does the wheel assembly work on an Evo?
At this point, when you tighten the nut on the axle, the wheel assembly is only clamped to the left-side fork. The right-side fork is then clamped to the wheel assembly by the Pinch Bolt which now allows both forks to support the front wheel assembly. This process allows the forks to rotate individually and align themselves to the axle.
