When did Harley go to fuel injection?

When did Harley go to fuel injection?

Starting in 1995, the company introduced Electronic Fuel Injection (EFI) as an option for the 30th anniversary edition Electra Glide. EFI became standard on all Harley-Davidson motorcycles, including Sportsters, upon the introduction of the 2007 product line.

When to use open loop fuel injection on Harley Davidson?

Since Harley only uses narrow band sensors (NBO2) capable of only a very narrow range of Air/fuel ratio (AFR), the ECM can only control the mixture under cruising or very low load conditions. Under all other conditions the ECM switches to Open Loop as described in this article.

How does the fuel injector work on a Harley Davidson?

The fuel injectors will always have pressurized fuel ready and waiting for the ECM command to open. Fuel Pressure Regulator – Alsolocated in the fuel tank, the regulator controls fuel pressure between 55 and 62 PSI by returning excess fuel from the fuel pump back to the fuel tank.

What are the different maps for fuel injection?

There are several different Look-up tables, which allow the ECM to make decisions on fuel delivery and spark timing. For most of us, these are referred to as “Maps.” The Maps that are more or less in continuous use by the ECM are the VE (Volumetric Efficiency) AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) and the Spark Advance table.

Where does fuel injection on a Harley Davidson come from?

The mighty Harley is slowly loosing its carburetor. For those of you who haven’t noticed or are stuck back in the 80’s, a large number of the bikes coming from Milwaukee have fuel injection installed. International environmental concerns have slowly forced the change from carburetor to electronic fuel injection.

Can a fuel injected Harley be reprogrammed?

Discussion in ‘ General Harley Davidson Topic ‘ started by GimmeFuel, Sep 6, 2011 . I know that if there is a change in the exhaust or air-intake on a fuel injected bike, the fuel injection is simply reprogrammed. What would need to be done if I simply removed the baffels from stock exhaust pipes?

How is the fuel pump relay and idle solenoid activated?

The idle solenoid is activated by a 12-volt signal and allows additional air into the intake manifold to increase the idle RPMs. The main relay is activated by the ignition switch and provides power to all components in the EFI system. The fuel pump relay is activated by the EFI ECU when the engine is running.

Do you put baffles in a fuel injected bike?

It had V&H long shots, but no baffles. After research on this site I bought baffles and put them in. The bike runs cooler, gets better mileage, and a lot of the decel popping went away. It sounds better and is more quiet as well, but still a bit loud for my taste.
