What years did Evinrude make Ficht?
Re: What year did evinrude stop making the Ficth (UtahAngler) Different models were produced during various years. The last production DI (FICHT) motors were the 115-150-175 in 2006. The midsize E-TECs that replaced them did not come out until the ’07 models.
What is Ficht injection?
The FICHT fuel injection system consists of four primary components: injectors, oiling system, electrical system and an engine management system that controls it all. This rapid pumping pressurizes the fuel to approximately 250 pounds per square inch, which helps atomize the fuel for a complete burn.

What went wrong with Evinrude?
Evinrude wasn’t in the 300 HP + space and that hurt them. They didn’t have the same dealer network that Mercury or Yamaha did and didn’t own as many transoms, making it tough out of the gate. On the surface, the mistakes I think they made are that they had too many engines overlapping.
What is Ficht engine?
The Evinrude Ficht engine contains a fuel injection system that uses a separate injector/pump per cylinder to supply a high-pressure fuel mixture to the engine. This engine uses a 30-psi fuel pump to supply fuel to the injector/pump per cylinder.
What is the future of Evinrude outboard motors?
Evinrude motors parent company, Bombardier Recreational Products (BRP), announced last week that it would discontinue manufacturing of its Evinrude E-TEC and E-TEC G2 outboard engines. Instead, the company will focus on growing its boat brands and developing technology and innovation of other marine products.
What is a Johnson Ficht motor?
When you say regular two stroke Johnson I am going to assume your are referring to a carbureted motor. They have carburetors that delivers a fuel and oil mixture to the cylinders. A Ficht will have an oil injector and a fuel injector for each individual cylinder.
What kind of fuel injection does Evinrude Ficht 225 use?
Basically, the FICHT 225 utilises the same FICHT Fuel Injection (FFI) system as Evinrude’s 90-175 hp models which injects fuel directly into the combustion chambers and operate on a 300:1 petrol/oil ratio at Dead Slow Troll (DST), and up to 60:1 at Wide Open Throttle (WOT).
Are there any problems with the OMC Ficht?
The Ficht was the motor that put the final nail in OMC’s coffin. There were major problems with the first fichts, V-4s and 60 degree V-6’s. The first 90 degree V-6’s (200/225 hp) had a major problem with fuel lines leaking at the injectors and blowing motors/boats up.
How to tell if a Ficht engine is new?
The easy way to tell is to look at the bolts holding the injector flange to the cylinder head. If they have a 1/2″ head, they are the new ones. Bolts with a 3/8″ head need to have the kit installed at no charge to you. Make sure the engine is propped for 5800 to 6000 rpm, feed it the FICHT Ram oil, and run it like you stole it.
