Are ball bearing turbos noisy?
excessive bearing noise on a ball bearing turbo is generally cause by pittings or cracks in the bearing race that the ball bearing rotate around. this is cause by tiny metal debris from recently engine build or poor lubrication. some factory oil system has an oil bypass which will bypass the oil filter.

What does a EBPV do?
The EBPV valve is designed to close during cold engine operation to allow the engine to warm up more quickly by creating additional exhaust backpressure. The PCM operates an electric solenoid (also located in the pedestal) which send engine oil pressure to the actuator when EBPV action is desired.
Should my turbo whistle?
All turbochargers make some amount of noise – and most people don’t even notice it. However, if the whistling sound gets louder, more noticeable, or changes in any way, it could be symptomatic of a number of different problems, that all warrant further investigation.
Should I delete EBPV?
Removing the EBPV will give a minimal increase in air flow, but mostly, it gets rid of the cold weather operation of the valve. I’ve left mine in tact for helping to warm the truck during the winter months. Since your location normally doesn’t get that cold, I wouldn’t see it as a big gain either way.
