What is Polyorchidism?
Polyorchidism or supernumerary testis means more than two testes. It is very rare and to the best of our knowledge, there have been only about 200 cases reported.
Who has Polyorchidism?
Polyorchidism is a very rare condition. Men with this condition are born with more than two testes, also known as testicles or gonads. There are only about 200 known reported cases. In the vast majority of cases, the individuals have three testes.
How do you treat Polyorchidism?
Because polyorchidism is very uncommon, there is no standard treatment for the condition. Prior to advances in ultrasound technology, it was common practice to remove the supernumerary testicle.
How many epididymis are there?
one epididymis
The epididymides are a pair of long tubular structures attached to the dorsal surface of the testes: one epididymis per testis. Each is divided into a head (caput), body (corpus) and tail (cauda).
What does Spermatocele mean?
A spermatocele (SPUR-muh-toe-seel) is an abnormal sac (cyst) that develops in the epididymis — the small, coiled tube located on the upper testicle that collects and transports sperm. Noncancerous and generally painless, a spermatocele usually is filled with milky or clear fluid that might contain sperm.
Can a man with one testicle make a woman pregnant?
Yes, in most cases, people with one testicle can get someone pregnant. Remember, one testicle can provide enough testosterone for you to get an erection and ejaculate. This is also enough to produce adequate sperm for fertilization.
What is the main function of epididymis?
The epididymis is a long, coiled tube that rests on the backside of each testicle. It carries and stores sperm cells that are created in the testes. It’s also the job of the epididymis to bring the sperm to maturity — the sperm that emerge from the testes are immature and incapable of fertilization.
What is the structure of epididymis?
The epididymis is a narrow, tightly-coiled tube connecting rear of the testicles to the deferent duct (ductus deferens or vas deferens). The epididymis consists of three parts: head, body, and tail. The head of the epididymis is located on superior pole of testis. It stores sperm for maturation.
Does spermatocele have Transillumination?
Spermatoceles are filled with fluid, so light will shine through them (transillumination). Light will not pass through solid masses that may be caused by other problems, such as cancer of the testicle.
