What engine comes in FR-S?
Overview. A high-revving 2.0-liter flat-four with direct- and port-injection is the only engine available and generates 200 hp and 151 lb-ft of torque. A six-speed manual transmission is standard while a six-speed automatic is optional.
Can you put a V6 in a FR-S?
Not really. The V6 engine is designed for a FWD vehicle, and the FA20 is designed for the RWD FR-S / BRZ. None of the drivetrain will work and you’ll have to completely redesign the engine mounting since there is a big difference between FWD and RWD engine mounting.
Who makes the FR-S engine?

The FR-S is a joint production of Toyota and Subaru, the latter selling the similar Subaru BRZ. Both models are powered by Subaru’s four-cylinder boxer engine and offer manual and automatic transmission pairings.
Can a 2JZ fit in a BRZ?
These are relatively simple and minor adjustments. We used the xcessive motor mounts for this mockup, but this transmission kit should fit any of the 2JZ swap mounts for the BRZ/FRS. The T56 Magnum transmission gearing matches up PERFECTLY to the 86 stock rear 4.10 gearing.
What engine is in BRZ?
Under the hood of the new BRZ is a naturally aspirated 2.4-liter flat-four-cylinder, otherwise known as a “boxer” engine. It generates 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque. Power is still routed to the rear wheels through either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic transmission.
Is FR-S the same as BRZ?
The BRZ, for example, has a softer suspension than the FRS, which means it goes over bumps more smoothly. The FRS, on the other hand, has a stiffer suspension so you feel more of the bumps in the road. The chassis of both cars are not only the same design, but they are also both made at the same factory.
Are FR-S good cars?
Very reliable and good on gas, and fun to drive at speeds under the speed limit. One of the best handling cars I’ve ever driven, on par with cars that cost twice as much. Definitely would recommend to someone wanting a sporty daily or a fun handling car. Also a great platform for modifications and originality.
