The purpose of the oil pan baffle (there are other names it goes by, also) is to prevent the engine from starving from oil when you go around turns, up hills, etc. The oil sloshes around in the pan as you drive.

You don’t have to have baffles, it just depends on where the hole is located and how the oil is getting thrown around. Some covers are worse than others I would suspect. You can always try it and check your hose for any signs of oil.
