With the A5’s, at least, that is what the symptoms point to. There are 2 contacts in the switch, one for the brake lights and one to tell the ECM when the brakes are applied. If the ECM side of the switch sticks on, RPM’s will be limited, the cruise won’t engage and you will get the flashing glow plug light.
