Leaving the latch and solenoid will just leave an open circuit so it turn will probably mean it thinks the boot it is open. Unless you can somehow make a bit of wire to join the wires to the latch (will be a microswitch inside to trigger alarm/interior light) that should close the circuit thus causing it to think the boot is closed.
