What causes a Subaru Impreza GC8 to stall?
All the sensors were appearing fine, we pulled out the throttle body and it was pretty gunked up. We cleaned that and the air box out and everything is running much more smoothly now, a steady idle at 750 RPM’s. Thanks again for your response, shaz. Not a problem, cleaning anything completely spaced my mind. Glad you figured it out though.
Why does a manual transmission not go into gear?
An automotive manual transmission uses a special high viscosity gear oil, unlike that in the crankcase. When the viscosity level thins out, it loses its lubricating qualities, especially under high temperature.
What causes a car to not go into gear?
If the linkage cable to your clutch or transmission is pinched off or severed, you won’t be able to get your car into gear — regardless of what you do or what kind of transmission your ride is equipped with.
Why do synchronizer gears not go into gear?
Synchronizer gears have the same dimensions as the interior transmission gears but only thinner. They retard the speed of the main gear, by forming a “mesh” to bridge to another gear. They function as small transition gears to allow a smooth shift.
Why does my Subaru stall at low idle?
Anyways, the car no longer stalls, and the rpms don’t sporadically dip when at an idle. The idle itself is a little rough, but i’m sure theres other reasons for that. Just wanted to share my experience since it seems a little more common then I thought.

What to do when your car won’t idle?
Start it up and let it sit about 10 minutes at idle so it can relearn idle. If it still doesn’t work you will probably have to clean the throttle blade on the throttle body cause it is probably gunked up and won’t allow the blade to come to full “seat” position letting it relearn the idle.
