see less I found an interconnect chart from BRK brands that says that the 9120B is compatible with the 4120B. It simply means that the 9120B and the 4120B can communicate with each other in an interlinked fashion (one alarm sets off all alarms).

Yes. I just replaced 2 very old (older than 10 years) BRK Electronics Model 4120B smoke detectors with these newer First Alert/BRK Brand Model 9120B units. The new smoke detectors are functioning/self-testing normally.
