How much compression should a Polaris 400 have?
Run a compression test (3-5 seconds) , with throttle closed, then repeat with throttle open. Should be around 100 psi closed and 125+ with it open.
What kind of motor does a Polaris 350 have?
Its a 350 liquid cooled 2 stroke, 4×4, has reverse, hi, low, etc. Well anyway, he said when I got done working on it, I could play around on it for a little while. I had too much fun on it, and now I want one. One of my friends has this exact same machine, they forgot to add oil, only had water in the radiator, and ended up blowing the motor.
What should the compression be on a Polaris?
I was looking thru my service manual last weekend and found that the stock compression, while doing a compression check, should be in the 95-100psi range. sounds like yours is in the ball park.
Is the Polaris 350 a 2×4 or 4×4?
I’m back in the USSR… I owned 1, it is called a 350L. Mine was a 2×4, it was damn quick for a huge utilty machine. The main problem with them is they will run forever with tons and tons of piston wear.
Is the Polaris 350 liquid cooled 2 stroke?

How much compression should I have on my Polaris ATV?
It needs to be cranked good and fast with the throttle wide open to get an accurate reading. Then pour about a table spoon of oil in the plug hole and try it to see what you get. I believe 60 is the minimum on a cool 4 stroke,w/ throttle held wide open, less than that and you start having issues. You have good compression.
How much compression should I have on my sportsman 500?
How much compression should i have? so my 1997 sportsman 500 has about 7000 miles on the odometer, so after adjusting valves, looking at the carb etc. we did a compression test for the hell of it. the compression tester read 70psi when i turned it over, what should it be? Over 100.
Why does the compression read low on a Polaris?
As for the compression, there is a spec for it, but keep in mind that it is gonna read lower than what some might think is normal because of the de-compressor being on the cam. Valves would be my first guess and cheapest to start with.
Are there any problems with the Polaris engine?
The engine itself is more or less bulletproof. Camshaft, and magnets coming off the flywheel are basically the only engine related problems. Search this forum for camshaft issues. Last year or ealy spring someone posted a pic of a bad camshaft and you can see what the cam looks like when scored.
