How does a folding mirror work on a Mercedes Benz?
I’ve got folding mirrors, which fold in when I lock the car via remote, when I unlock they dont fold out till I open either front door, opening the boot has no effect on them. They fold and unfold fine from the dash switch on the lights control panel.
Why does my driver’s side mirror not unfold?
In fact, a job for during the downtime over Christmas as my driver’s side mirror is not unfolding fully (unlike the passenger side) and I have to use the unfold button to fully extend it. Mine need a good spray every year as they tend to stick.

It’s a synthetic grease and they also have a synthetic oil. Both of these spray and penetrate very well and then they set up and leave a lasting film which should last for a few months if not a lot more. Why does my car mirror fold out when I open the door?
The logic being (I’m guessing) that this prevents the mirrors folding out until you actually get in to drive, not unnecessarily when you just open the boot. (That said, would be even cleverer if they only folded out when you open the driver’s door, not passenger’s, or even better when you start the car.)
