Are there any known problems with the Honda ST1300?
Like the seat. The first three are the most common, #1 & #2 are, 8 years into the production of the bike, inexcusable from Honda. #2 wouldn’t actually be that big of a deal, except that to restore functionality when the $5 plastic worm gear strips, you have to replace the entire mechanism at a cost upwards of $400!!!
How often does a ST1300 run out of gas?
Valve checks every 15k miles is about the only real expense, besides general maintenance and tires. The biggest thing you will probably read about is that the Thermostat seems to fail early. Once it is replaced though the second one lasts longer. Other than that, they keep running out of gas every 300 miles or so. Welcome!
Why does my Honda T stat thermostat stick?
Honda simply doesn’t make the parts available separately. Thermostat sticking, only because Honda is too pigheaded to re-spec the cheap crappy t-stat and use a decent one.
What causes the front axle to wobble on a ST1300?
Known to be caused by dealers not installing the front axle according to the set-up procedure. It’s 10 minutes to fix. Click to expand… The wobble is seen a lot more in Europe than here for some reason. This shouldn’t be confused with the way the bike behaves in the dirty air coming off a truck.
What’s the problem with riding a Honda ST1300?
The Honda ST1300 and ST1100 are my favorite Sport Touring motorcycles. I have owned both, and they are very different machines. The ST1300 brought many improvements, but one very big problem. Riding the ST1300 throws off large volumes of hot air from around the engine.
Are there any mechanical issues with the ST1300?
Legitimate complaint, but not a mechanical/breakdown issue, simply a comfort/tolerance issue. Like the seat.
How does the Honda ST1300 cowl trap heat?
Unfortunately Honda did a really poor job designing the ST1300 cowl and frame with respect to heat dissipation. Not only does the design not direct heat around the rider, it actually traps the heat inside the cowling.
