Why does my Harley Davidson have a problem with the petcock?
I {Heart} Hookers. It sounds as if the in-tank filter is clogged. it’s a screen covering the petcock fuel tube that decides the level of the fuel for normal or reserve position driving. Not to say the petcock may have issues, but if not, simply pulling the petcock, cleaning the filter screen may solve the problem.
Is there a recall on the H-D vacuum petcock?
BUT there was a recall on those petcocks back a number of years ago and the dealerships had kits in the service depts. The parts counter didn’t have the kits but if you can find the recall kit number the service dept. might still have some. No rebuild kits for the H-D vacuum petcock that I know of.
How do you clean a Harley Davidson petcock?
Open the petcock putting it in the reserve position (to remove all the fuel). Then you have to apply a gentle vacuum to the vacuum port on the petcock. How you do this is up to you. I’ve attached a short rubber hose to a syringe and then to the petcock at which I draw a slight vacuum.

MILWAUKEE (November 22, 2005) Harley-Davidson Motor Company has issued a voluntary safety recall on 2006 model year Dyna series motorcycles built between June 9 and October 19, 2005.
