Where is the throttle position sensor on a 2006 Subaru Outback?

Are you looking for the throttle position sensor? On this model it uses an electronic throttle and the TPS is part of the whole throttle body and cannot be replaced. The sensor you have may be the pedal position sensor, this is mounted to the gas pedal up under the dash.

Why does my Subaru Outback have a p2138 code?

The engine throws the P2138 code every few weeks or so — very scary on the highway. Any advice on a fix would be very appreciated. I’ve had zero problems after replacing the pedal assembly. I was having the p2138 issue on my 2006 outback.

What causes a Subaru Outback throttle position sensor to not work?

This seems to be more common failure based on the number of thread replies I’ve seen. Subaru tech support has told us of some 05, 06 and up to 09’s having a issue with the wire harness under the intake. With the scantool on the default angle with koeo should be 4-5 degrees; moving the harness can cause a fluxuation in the readings.

What is the diagnostic code for throttle / pedal position sensor?

P2138 is a diagnostic trouble code (DTC) for “Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch D/E Voltage Correlation”. This can happen for multiple reasons and a mechanic needs to diagnose the specific cause for this code to be triggered in your situation.

What is the p2138 code on a throttle body?

Photo of a throttle body, throttle body position (TPS) sensor is the black part to the lower right: The computer monitors the correlation of both voltages. When both voltages agree, the system is functioning properly. When they deviate for two seconds, the code P2138 is set indicating a malfunction somewhere in the system.

What’s the diagnostic code for a Subaru Outback?

Gotta love drive-by-wire. The service manual has an 18-step diagnostic procedure for this code. It mostly comes down to repairing the harness/connectors or replacing the accelerator pedal sensor. Replacing the ECM is a last resort if everything, and I mean everything, else checks out. Anybody have any more info?
