Where can I buy a 1984 BMW R65?
In terms of sourcing parts, you might want to try Ted Porter’s Beemershop on the west coast or Euromotoelectrics in Denver. You could also try one of the better BMW shops. Although that may cost you a bit more, good BMW shops offer great Airhead support.
Is the BMW R65 airhead re-buildable?
The airhead is a pretty machine, but sometimes there are little gremlins that are not so obvious. The brakes are a big deal. The LS has twin Brembo’s which are re-buildable, but I’d look at the master cylinder first. It’s re-buildable as well. Upgrades like SS lines can wait till later, unless your hose is leaking.
Why does MY BMW R65 Rev too much?
If the seals sat for too long and got dried out, you may have leaks allowing more air/fuel to get drawn in and allow revving even with rebuilt carbs. Or you may have dirty jets (P.O. could have ‘rebuilt’ without cleaning) causing fueling problems and leading to bad idle settings inclined to revving.
When to tighten the throttle on a BMW R65?
The idle throttle adjusters should not need to be much tighter than about 1/2-1 turn in from just touching the throttle position lever. Adjustments of as little as an 1/8-1/4 of a turn should make a difference in idle speed.

Is it possible to rebuild a Goldwing engine?
Unfortunately the economics of engine rebuilding are very poor on these engines. Here’s some advice if you think you need a rebuild.
