When does the radio quit working on a Tacoma?
Discussion in ‘ 1st Gen. Tacomas (1995-2004) ‘ started by Mjw2002, Jan 1, 2016 . I’m new to the forum. My radio quit in my 2002 Tacoma. I checked all fuses under the hood and the drivers side panel. Everything appears to be working except the 2 lighter plugs below the radio next to the center console.

Click to expand… If there is a loose wire yes it will cause it short and stall out and then wouldn’t restart if the short is still present. Once it cools down some short maybe corrected for the time being. It has shut off both at idle and while on the gas.

I actually was passing by the auto section at ol’ WallyWorld and saw they had radio (53x4w, too) with a pair of 6.5s and 6x9s for a $100. I grabbed one for something one day. Thanks for the suggestions, I have checked all the fuses on both the external and interior fuse boxes.
