When does gas start coming out of the CARB?
1 Answer A lot of gas coming out of the carb. overflow tube, eng on or off When the fuel is turned on gas starts coming out of the overflow tube. It doesn’t matter if the engine is running or not. The bike will start and run like there is nothing wrong. But, the gas is dripping severly out of that tube.

You just as well take the carb off (and apart) and remove the jets, soak it in carb cleaner, and blow all the jets out with compressed air. If it’s been sitting a while, it might be “gummed up”, or it may have particles of crud in there hindering the movement of the needle, etc.

Why does my dirt bike leak gas from the overflow?
Every carburettor has a float bowl that rises according to the gas. This float is connected to a part called a plunger. It stops the extra fuel to flow into the bowl. Sometimes the plunger can get displaced from the float valve and it can cause the gas leak.

Remove gas cap momentarily and see if fuel will flow, vent in gas cap could be plugged not allowing fuel to flow. Remove spark plug, remove fuel line from carburetor and direct line into a container to see if fuel is flowing from pump when engine cranked.

Pull out about 1″ of fuel line from the fuel cap opening and attach filter. Replace the line back into the tank just like that because you want the fuel filter/line to flop around inside the tank. Now that same line goes from the tank to the bottom connector on the carb.

If you find a split in the gas line you will need to replace it with 3/16″ gas vinyl line. You can pick that up at the local auto parts store. Next, determine if the carburetor float is stuck. Using the handle end of a screw driver, gently tap the bottom of the carburetor bowl a few times.
