What is Facemounting?
Acrylic face mounting is a process that involves applying an optically clear adhesive to the face of the print then adhering the print to acrylic, otherwise known as plexiglass. Acrylic face mounting gives prints a very modern and vibrant look which is great for the home or showing your work in a gallery.

Acrylic Face Mounting is the process of creating a high-gloss archival pigment print, applying a double-sided clear adhesive between the print and acrylic (also known as plexiglass), and backing it with 3mm sintra and a wooden cleated platform for hanging.
How do you hang plexiglass?
Apply a small amount of silicone adhesive to the edge of the plexiglass and press it firmly against the material you want it fastened to. Allow the adhesive to dry and the plexiglass is now attached.
What is a float mount hanger?
Float Mount: This option looks like it is literally “floating” about a half inch off of the wall. There is a hanger on the back which you can use to hang the image with a nail or picture hanger. Float mounts are usually recommended for smaller sized images but can also work well for most sizes.
How do you hang plexiglass on a wall without drilling?
Buy acrylic and an acrylic cutter at a Home Depot or Lowe’s (they can also cut it for you instead) Lay art out on acrylic (use a level to make sure it’s all even) Use glue dots to stick art to acrylic (it will not ruin the art –it peels right off) Tape rope to back of acrylic.
How do you drill through plexiglass without cracking it?
Use a lubricant or liquid. Water or a water soluble oil works well. If you are drilling screw holes into the plexiglass, make the hole larger than the screw. This prevents the screw from forcefully grabbing the plexiglass and it gives the screw room to expand.
Can you screw plexiglass?
To drill into plexiglass successfully, control your drill speed. The faster the drill, the hotter the bit gets. Hot bits will melt the plexiglass around the hole. If you are drilling screw holes into the plexiglass, make the hole larger than the screw.
Can you nail plexiglass?
Fine nails are fine. But you do need to drill a clearance hole the full diameter of the nail shaft through the plastic. You may want to drill a smaller pilot hole at least partway into the wood to reduce the chance of splitting.
